You might think that China's National Day is just a domestic holiday: when work is temporarily put on hold,

you get 7 days off, no boss-induced stress, no busy workload. You can stay at home for online shopping,

go out to eat, shop, travel… But guess what? Foreign markets are even more excited, they see it as a

"money-making opportunity" and come up with fun, clever promotional ideas.

Last year, Amazon US put up a "Chinese National Day Deals" banner. It sold red, China-themed items: panda

silk scarves (30% off), lucky cat keychains with tiny flags, and even blue-and-white porcelain tea sets labeled

"National Day". A friend of ours went to buy socks but ended up grabbing the tea set—jokingly saying, "Why

am I celebrating China's holiday?"

Meanwhile, Chinese restaurants in London didn't just offer boring discounts. They launched "National Day

Family Meals": Peking Duck, four servings of jasmine tea, plus small flags for kids. A gift shop in LA let customers

join in a free flag-folding class if they spent over $20 on Chinese-style items. Teens posted about it on TikTok,

and sales doubled overnight, among other successes.

We have more ideas to explore more possibilities. Focus on specific groups: for teens, create TikTok challenges

such as "Show Your Chinese-Style Accessories" to encourage sharing. For families, design "DIY kits" that include

flag, mooncake, and lantern-making tutorials, so they can craft together. Blend Chinese elements with local

preferences: in Europe, sell simple, soft-glowing red or gold candles scented with jasmine. In the US, make

sportswear embroidered with small flags—pieces that are easy to wear daily. Encourage customer loyalty: give

away a free "culture booklet" with every purchase. It introduces other Chinese holidays like the Spring Festival

and includes discounts for future visits.

We also wonder if foreign shops will collaborate with Chinese designers for such holidays. What Chinese-themed

items would you buy from a foreign shop—something useful, beautiful, or fun to share?
